You're Invited: “Break Water” Opening Celebration on Saturday, March 22

Join the City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts and artist Nekisha Durrett for the opening celebration of Break Water, the seventh installation in the Site See: New Views in Old Town annual public art series.
Break Water draws inspiration from Alexandria’s waterfront being a place where natural forces and human activity intersect, often with profound consequences.
D.C.-based artist Nekisha Durrett employs the visual language of mass media to bring forward histories that places, objects, and words embody, but are not often celebrated.
Through deep research and material investigation, she finds historical traces in the present that are filled with stories easily overlooked.
About Site See: New Views in Old Town
A nationally recognized public-art series, Site See: New Views in Old Town is an annual series of temporary installations that showcase Alexandria’s public art program through innovative, exciting, high-quality contemporary art at this key riverfront location.
Each artwork in the series is informed by the historic waterfront and neighboring community.
