Sheriff Sean Casey, a highly experienced and dedicated public safety leader, is now serving in his first term of office as the Sheriff of Alexandria. A lifelong Alexandrian and veteran law enforcement officer, he assumed office on January 1, 2022 after having been elected in November 2021.

The Alexandria Sheriff's Office is a professional organization with 168 deputy sheriffs and 36 civilian personnel. The Office received the National Sheriff's Association's "Triple Crown Award" for achieving national accreditations in law enforcement, corrections, and health care in corrections.

More than 60 inmates recently attended a special program that combined the theme of African Americans and Labor with an uplifting message.

The William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center accepts funds for inmates of the detention center. Access Corrections manages the system for online deposits, and deposits by phone, and it also sets the fees for their services.

The Detention Center Bureau manages the security of the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center which houses approximately 300 inmates including local, state and federal prisoners. This Bureau also coordinates facility maintenance and manages inmate records and IT functions.

The Bureau includes Judicial Services such as courthouse security and courthouse operations, and Field Operations such as civil process, warrant service and community support functions.

The Administrative Services Bureau includes human resources, training, accreditation, public information, fleet, fiscal management, investigations, policy, inmate services, classification, alternative programs and PREA coordination.
