Drug Take Back Day
Drug take back day provides residents with an opportunity to safely dispose of unneeded prescription and over-the-counter medications, including those prescribed by veterinarians.
During this event, the Alexandria Police Department, Alexandria Sheriff’s Office, and Alexandria Health Department, with cooperation from the Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition of Alexandria, staff multiple drop-off locations for safe medication disposal.
The next Drug Take Back Day will take place on October 26, 2024 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. View disposal sites.
fall festival
Join us for a vibrant Fall Festival hosted by the City of Alexandria on Saturday, October 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 5067 Seminary Rd. This fun-filled event features live music, food trucks, and a variety of market vendors. Enjoy kid-friendly games, exciting activities, and raffle prizes throughout the day. 2024 National Recovery Month
The Department of Community and Human Services is hosting a series of events to honor and celebrate our community members thriving in recovery. Events at the Del Pepper Community Resource Center will highlight the wellness benefits of art, nutrition, exercise and meditation. An afternoon of food, fun and festivities will be held at Ben Brenman Park to celebrate individuals, as well as their families and loved ones, who enjoy the benefits of recovery. Parent support group
This support group is for Virginia Parents and Caregivers of LGBTQ+ Children and Youth and is free, online, confidential and weekly, starting this spring. Youth Move support group
This youth support group was birthed to create a space with youth and young adults to discuss self-care, mental health experiences, and more. Sessions are held on the second Wednesday and fourth Sunday of every month! See flyerto register and for more information.
Let's Talk Tuesdays
Are you a survivor of sexual violence and would like group support? This virtual adult support group is a series of six group meetings to aid sexual assault survivors in their recovery journey. Intake is required to attend the group. See flyerfor details.
